Limassol municipality reports waste management results for 2024-2026

On the occasion of World Cleanup Day, the Municipality of Limassol released a report detailing waste management activities conducted by its Health Service between 2024 and 2026. During this period, the service collected over 24,700 tons of various waste materials and debris, while also removing more than 1,800 abandoned vehicles and items from public spaces to improve urban living conditions and public health.

The collected waste includes 5,482 tons of debris from plot cleanups, 6,328 tons of mixed waste, 2,975 tons of bulky items, 2,369 tons of street cleaning residue, 2,734 tons of prunings, 29 tons of tires, and 23 tons of wood. Additionally, the municipal Technical Department contributed 4,805 tons of mixed waste to this total. The report highlights a significant increase in enforcement activities, noting that the number of cleaned plots rose from 1,300 in 2024–2025 to 1,733 in 2025–2026.

The municipality maintains that cleaning and waste management remain core administrative priorities. The Health Service continues to intensify its efforts across all city districts to address sanitation challenges and ensure a higher quality of life for all residents.
