Cyprus launches new digital social insurance services

On September 22, 2026, the Cypriot Minister of Labour and Social Insurance, Marinos Mousiouttas, and the Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy, Nicodimos Damianou, introduced a new suite of digital services for Social Insurance. These upgrades, part of the country's Recovery and Resilience Plan, are designed to shorten application processing times by 30 to 70 percent, affecting over 40,000 annual claims.

New online services now cover paternity, maternity, childbirth, parental leave, and funeral allowances, alongside new options for submitting claims for disability pensions, widow’s pensions, disability benefits, and assistance for those with thalassaemia. A centralized 'Insured Profile' has also been established to provide citizens with a single access point for their records and applications. Minister Mousiouttas emphasized that this transition aims to reduce bureaucracy and improve the experience for citizens interacting with the welfare state.

In addition to the new digital portal, the Ministry of Labour announced an extension for social insurance contribution payments. Due to difficulties encountered with the mandatory CY Login system—particularly by the elderly employing domestic workers—the deadline for manual payments at district offices has been extended until the end of October 2026 to facilitate a smoother transition.
