Cyprus launches new digital social security services and insured profile

On September 22, 2026, the Cypriot Minister of Labor and Social Insurance, Marinos Mousiouttas, and the Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy, Nicodemos Damianou, announced the launch of new digital services for social insurance. The initiative, part of the national Recovery and Resilience Plan, aims to modernize the processing of benefits, resulting in a 30% to 70% reduction in application processing times depending on the specific service.

The new system introduces the "Insured Profile," which centralizes an individual's records and application data. Digital applications are now available for high-demand benefits, including disability pensions, widowhood pensions, disability grants, paternity and maternity allowances, birth grants, parental leave, and funeral grants, as well as special provisions for those with thalassemia. Over 40,000 applications for these services are filed annually, with more than 17,000 requests for parental leave submitted in the past 12 months alone.

This project represents a significant step in the ongoing digital transformation of government services in Cyprus, intended to simplify administrative procedures for citizens during critical life events. Officials confirmed that these services are now fully operational, streamlining access to state benefits through a unified digital environment.
