Cyprus launches the 12th European Week of Sport #BeActive

The 12th European Week of Sport, known as #BeActive, is scheduled to take place across Cyprus from September 23 to September 30, 2026. The official launch was announced on September 22 by Yannis Ioannou, President of the Cyprus Sports Organization (KOA), during a press conference held at the organization's event hall in the presence of board members and the President of the National Betting Authority, Panagiotis Trissokkas.

This year’s event marks record-breaking participation with 660 scheduled activities—a 14% increase from the previous year—involving 211 organizers and institutions, which is a 23% rise. Organizers expect over 160,000 participants, representing a 37% growth compared to 117,000 participants in 2025. President Ioannou highlighted new initiatives, including the active support of President Nikos Christodoulides.

As part of the expanded program, President Christodoulides and his staff are scheduled to participate in a special exercise led by fitness expert Eleni Petroulaki on October 5. This event reflects the ongoing national commitment to promoting physical activity and healthy lifestyles throughout the Cypriot population.
