Weather update and September rainfall statistics for Cyprus

Cyprus is experiencing a period of cooler autumn-like weather, with temperatures remaining within or slightly below seasonal norms. Meteorologist Tasos Ierodiakonou reported that inland areas will see temperatures between 31°C and 33°C, while coastal regions will reach 29°C to 31°C. Mountainous areas, including Mount Olympus, are expected to remain cooler, ranging between 20°C and 26°C. While a brief cool spell lasts until Friday, temperatures are forecast to rise again over the weekend.

Regarding recent precipitation, Cyprus recorded 164% of its monthly average rainfall between September 1 and September 22. The village of Frenaros in the Famagusta district experienced the most significant rainfall, reaching 2167% of its typical September norm. On average, the island saw 7.4 mm of rain compared to the standard 4.5 mm. Forecasts for Wednesday and Thursday, September 23–24, indicate potential showers and thunderstorms in the Troodos mountains and eastern coastal areas, with wind gusts reaching up to 6 on the Beaufort scale. Weather conditions are expected to clear by Friday, September 25, before cloud cover returns on Saturday, September 26.
