Interamerican acquires Gan Direct insurance portfolio in Cyprus

The Competition Protection Commission of Cyprus announced on September 23, 2026, that it has received notification regarding the acquisition of a portfolio of insurance policies from Gan Direct Insurance Ltd by the Greek company Interamerican Hellenic Life Insurance Company. The transaction involves the transfer of all active retail insurance policies covering motor vehicles, as well as property insurance for individuals and small-to-medium enterprises, specifically within the Republic of Cyprus.

Interamerican is a registered Greek insurance firm and a subsidiary of the Dutch insurance group Achmea, which maintains international operations. The acquisition, which excludes certain specifically identified property policies mentioned in the transfer agreement, remains subject to regulatory review by the competition authority. The transaction encompasses all relevant policies that are in effect at the time of the transfer’s completion, marking a significant consolidation in the local insurance market.
