Akamas land compensation scheme open for 2026 applications

The Cypriot Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment has announced that applications for financial support under Measure 1 of the Akamas Local Plan can be submitted between October 1 and November 15, 2026. Both individuals and legal entities are eligible to apply through the official online platform, www.support-akamas.com.

This compensation measure is designed for private landowners within the Akamas Local Plan boundaries, specifically covering agricultural, livestock, and protected planning zones totaling approximately 93,460 decares. The annual subsidy is calculated at 60 euros per decare, with a maximum limit of 6,600 euros per beneficiary. The total budget for this initiative for the 2024-2028 period is 25 million euros, funded by national resources.

The primary objective of the program is to provide financial incentives for landowners who maintain their plots in their current natural state, thereby contributing to the preservation of biodiversity and the local landscape. Following the closure of the application window on November 15, no further submissions will be accepted for the current year.
