Francesco Totti turns down return to Serie A at age 48

The legendary Italian forward revealed that Serie A clubs Como and Genoa had approached him with proposals to resume his playing career. Despite the tempting nature of the offers, Totti decided against a comeback, citing his dedication to maintaining his physical conditioning and a desire to avoid treating a potential return as a mere promotional stunt.

In his recently published autobiography, Totti emphasized that his decision was heavily influenced by his lifelong loyalty to Roma. He explicitly stated that he could not imagine playing for any Italian club other than his historic side, noting that an act of sporting betrayal carries no age limit. Totti expressed that while a player may naturally become slower with age, his skill and connection to the game remain intact. Ultimately, his commitment to his legacy at Roma led him to reject the overtures from both Como and Genoa, confirming that he remains retired from professional competition.
