Cyprus hosts the inaugural Dimitrios Vikelas National Congress

The Cyprus Sports Organization recently hosted the inaugural Dimitrios Vikelas National Congress, bringing together elite Olympic and Paralympic athletes from Greece and Cyprus. The event featured thematic panels aimed at exploring both the path to athletic excellence and the broader societal values shaped through sports.

During the sessions, distinguished athletes shared their personal experiences and insights. The first panel, "The Path to the Top," included participants such as Pavlos Kontides, Milan Trajkovic, Voula Patoulidou, Thodoris Vlachos, and Giannis Bourousis, moderated by Kyriakos Ioannou. A second panel, "Beyond the Medal: The Social and Ethical Dimension of Sport," featured Karolina Pelendritou, Apostolos Parellis, Olga Vasdeki, Fani Chalkia, and Maria Markou. These discussions focused on how sports act as a school of life, fostering character and ethics that extend far beyond competitive performance.
