Nicosia launches Youth Climate Action Fund grants for young people

The Municipality of Nicosia has announced a new initiative, supported by the Bloomberg Philanthropies Youth Climate Action Fund (YCAF), inviting young people aged 15 to 24 to design and implement local climate projects. To participate, individuals must form teams of at least three people and submit proposals that address environmental needs within the city's municipal boundaries. Eligible participants include those who live, study, or work in Nicosia.

Successful applicants can receive funding ranging from €1,000 to €5,000 to cover implementation costs. Potential project areas include community climate mobilization, the revitalization of green spaces, the promotion of sustainable transport methods, and initiatives focused on resource conservation and sustainability. The initiative aims to move beyond youth consultation, giving young residents an active role in creating a more resilient and greener urban environment.

The project is designed to empower local youth by providing both the financial resources and the platform to turn their ideas into practical, real-world solutions. Participants are encouraged to focus on projects that create measurable impacts on the city's climate goals and long-term sustainability efforts.
