Surveying 502 residents out of a total EU sample of 26,456, the data shows that 86% of Cypriots consider agriculture and rural areas vital for the future, with 64% labeling it 'very important'.

While providing safe, healthy food is the top priority for farmers, 30% of Cypriots—significantly higher than the 21% EU average—emphasize the need for stable farmer incomes. Furthermore, climate-related challenges are a major concern, with 57% of Cypriots identifying drought and water scarcity as the primary threat to food security, notably higher than the EU average of 37%. Extreme weather conditions (46%) and geopolitical conflicts (32%) follow as significant risks.

The results suggest a strong preference for increased financial support for domestic farmers, while also indicating a comparative lack of willingness to pay higher prices for environmentally friendly goods.
