Nicosia District Court issues bans against three football spectators

The Nicosia District Court has recently issued bans from sports venues against three individuals involved in separate football-related offenses. On September 14, 2026, two men aged 20 and 29 were sentenced to a six-month exclusion and fined €1,000 and €1,300 respectively. These individuals were arrested on May 29, 2026, during the Cyprus Cup final between Apollon and Pafos for conspiracy, illegal transport of explosives, and possession of offensive weapons near the GSP Stadium.

In a separate case involving incidents at a match between APOEL and AEL on September 6, 2026, a 25-year-old man was brought before the court on September 8, 2026. The accused faces charges including physical assault, attacking a police officer, and throwing dangerous objects. The court ordered his release under specific bail conditions to ensure his attendance at future hearings. Furthermore, the court granted a police request to ban the 25-year-old from all sports venues until his trial concludes.
