Turkish Airlines finalizes order for up to 150 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft

Turkish Airlines has officially signed a landmark agreement with Boeing for the acquisition of up to 150 737 MAX aircraft, following negotiations that commenced in 2025. The signing ceremony, held on September 23, 2026, was attended by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. This deal marks one of the largest single-aisle aircraft orders in Boeing's history.

The contract includes a firm order for 100 Boeing 737-8 aircraft, with options to purchase an additional 50 units. Furthermore, the agreement grants the airline the flexibility to transition to the larger 737-10 model, allowing for improved capacity management on both domestic and international short- to medium-haul routes. The airline expects these new, more efficient aircraft to significantly reduce fuel consumption and emissions.

Currently, the carrier operates a fleet of over 200 Boeing planes, including 737 MAX, 787 Dreamliner, 777, and 777 Freighter models. This expansion strategy aims to meet growing travel demand while modernizing the company's fleet with more sustainable and operationally flexible technology.
