Manchester United reports record revenues amidst financial challenges
Manchester United has announced record-breaking revenues of £677.6 million for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2026, marking a 1.7% increase. Despite this milestone, the club reported a net loss of £43 million—the seventh consecutive year of losses—and an increase in net debt to £577.6 million. Financial reports highlight that net financing costs tripled to £69.2 million, even as the club managed to reduce its wage bill by 3.6% to £301 million under the cost-cutting measures implemented by Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s administration. Costs associated with the dismissal of manager Ruben Amorim were also cited as contributing factors to the financial results.
In conjunction with these announcements, the club is offering commemorative pieces of the Old Trafford pitch to fans for £125 each. This move follows the first complete renovation of the stadium’s turf in 14 years, which was conducted to improve drainage and player welfare. While the club achieved record revenues without European football during the previous season, the current 2026/27 campaign sees the team participating in the Champions League, which is expected to further bolster financial performance in the coming year. The organization continues to navigate these complex financial pressures while maintaining its commercial operations.
