Recent forest fire incidents across Cyprus

Over the past few days, the Department of Forests has responded to multiple fire incidents in various districts of Cyprus. On September 23, 2026, at 22:30, a blaze broke out in the Mersinouthkia area of Androlikou in Paphos. Two personnel and one fire vehicle managed to contain the fire, which burned one decare of wild vegetation, by 22:50. The causes of this incident remain under investigation.

On September 25, 2026, another fire was reported at 18:10 near the A5 motorway in Klavdia, Larnaca. Five Department of Forests personnel with two fire trucks, alongside two firefighters with one vehicle, successfully contained the fire. Most recently, on the morning of September 27, 2026, a fire occurred at 08:15 near the Polis Chrysochous camping site in Paphos. This blaze affected an area of reeds and brambles before being brought under control at 08:35 by a joint team from the Department of Forests and the Fire Service.

Authorities are currently investigating the causes of all three fires. No injuries or major property damage were reported in these incidents, and local operations were conducted swiftly to prevent the spread of flames into protected or residential areas.
