Ministry of Education staff participate in #BeActive sports initiative

On September 24, 2026, the Cypriot Minister of Education, Sports and Youth, Athena Michaelidou, led ministry staff in an outdoor exercise session to promote physical wellness. The event was held as part of the annual European Week of Sport, known as the #BeActive campaign, which aims to encourage active lifestyles.

The initiative was organized by the Physical Education Inspectorate of the Secondary General Education Directorate. Alongside Minister Michaelidou, participants included the Deputy Director of Secondary General Education, Giorgos Koutsidis, and the Life-Long #BeActive Ambassador, Kalli Chatziiosif. The workout session was conducted under the guidance of Physical Education Inspector Angelos Aggelidis and physical education teacher Christiana Charalambous, involving officers and personnel from all ministry departments.

Minister Michaelidou emphasized the ministry's commitment to supporting European initiatives like the European Week of Sport and the European School Sport Day. The activity served as a brief break from official administrative duties, designed to integrate movement into the workplace culture and allow staff to return to their responsibilities with increased energy.
