Cyprus to host the first Climate Adaptation Festival in Larnaca

The first Climate Adaptation Festival in Cyprus, themed "The Mediterranean We Want," will be held at Europe Square in Larnaca on Saturday, September 26. Organized by the Cyprus Energy Agency (CEA) and the Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute (CMMI), the event aims to raise public awareness about climate challenges such as drought, floods, heatwaves, and wildfires, while exploring nature-based solutions for a more resilient future.

The festival is part of the European research and innovation project DesirMED, which focuses on demonstrating climate-resilient transformations. Supported by the Larnaka2030 initiative, the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), and the Larnaca Municipality, the event will feature a massive interactive map designed to guide visitors through various climate-related issues across the Mediterranean region. Activities will cater to families, involving numerous organizations from the research, environmental, educational, and civil society sectors.

This event is intended to promote adaptation strategies to mitigate the effects of global climate change. Through hands-on experiences and educational initiatives, participants will explore the connection between local environmental actions and broader Mediterranean climate trends.
