Pakistan conducts air strikes on Afghanistan following drone incident

On Thursday, the Pakistan Air Force conducted precision strikes against ten locations in Afghanistan identified as drone launch and storage sites. This military action followed an incident on Wednesday where Pakistani air defense systems intercepted and neutralized several drones launched from Afghan territory. Information Minister Attaullah Tarar stated that the strikes were limited to specific military objectives and warned that any future provocations from the Afghan Taliban would be met with a firm response.

While Islamabad maintains the strikes targeted militants responsible for cross-border attacks, officials in Kabul reported that the operation resulted in the deaths of four civilians. The Taliban government in Afghanistan has denied allegations of harboring Islamist militants, asserting that the insurgency is an internal issue for Pakistan. Tensions between the two nations have escalated significantly due to intensifying instability in their shared border regions. Currently, the situation remains tense as both sides trade accusations regarding the cross-border drone activity and the resulting military escalation.
