Karaiskakio Foundation celebrates 30th anniversary

On Wednesday, September 23, 2026, the Karaiskakio Foundation held a commemorative ceremony at the Olympic House in Nicosia to celebrate its 30 years of operation. The event was held under the auspices of the President of the House of Representatives, Annita Demetriou, and was attended by the Minister of Health, various members of parliament, and representatives from partner organizations and the community.

A central focus of the ceremony was honoring 51 volunteer donors who provided grafts to patients across 15 countries. These individuals were presented with a swallow sculpture, created by artist Nicolas Ladommatos, as a token of appreciation. The foundation highlighted that since its inception, it has facilitated over 1,000 successful grafts for patients in 36 countries through the Cyprus Donor Registry.

During the event, the inaugural 'Nikandros Papaminas' award was presented to Alberto Faccenda, a final-year medical student at the University of Nicosia, marking a new milestone in the foundation's commitment to supporting medical advancement and humanitarian aid.
