Cyprus U20 volleyball teams compete in European championship qualifiers

Cyprus' U20 national volleyball teams are currently competing in the European Championship qualifying rounds held in Austria and Slovenia. The men's team is playing in Steinbrunn from September 23 to 27, facing Austria, Slovakia, and Israel, with the goal of finishing in the top five to secure a spot in the second qualifying round in January 2027. Meanwhile, the women's team is in Maribor for their historic first participation in European qualifiers, competing against Austria, Slovenia, and Slovakia.

In recent developments for the men's team, they faced a setback in their second match against Slovakia on September 24, losing 3-0. Despite a competitive start where they led early in the first and second sets, the team struggled with consistency and unforced errors, allowing Slovakia to dominate the closing moments of the games.
