Balcony collapse at an apartment building in Limassol

On the morning of September 24, 2026, a balcony collapsed at an apartment building in the center of Limassol, Cyprus. The collapse happened within the interior space of the building, preventing debris from falling onto the street. Fortunately, no injuries were reported among the occupants.

Emergency services, including the police and civil defense, arrived at the scene to secure the area. The building was evacuated, and approximately 30 residents were relocated to a hotel for temporary accommodation. Local authorities have highlighted that similar structural incidents have occurred at this specific building in the past. The local organization for development and local government (EOA) is scheduled to inspect the building's structural integrity in two days to determine if it remains suitable for habitation.
