Famagusta District Organization meets with Agriculture Minister to discuss infrastructure

On September 24, 2026, a delegation from the Famagusta District Self-Government Organization (EOA), led by President Giannis Karousos, held a meeting with the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, Christos Senekis. The discussions focused on pressing infrastructure challenges, water supply management, and waste treatment systems within the Famagusta district, aiming to identify immediate solutions to pending administrative and operational issues.

Key agenda items included the pursuit of state funding for the installation of smart water meters and the integration of EOA into the Smart Cyprus platform. Furthermore, the delegation addressed the operation and maintenance of the Achna Wastewater Treatment Plant and highlighted the urgent need for government financial support to replace and repair aging water supply networks to mitigate significant water losses. These meetings represent a proactive effort by the regional administration to address critical utility shortcomings and improve service delivery for the district's residents.
