Pasykaf marks 40 years of cancer support in Cyprus

The Pancyprian Association of Cancer Patients and Friends (Pasykaf) celebrated its 40th anniversary during a gala dinner held on September 24, 2026, at the Royal Hall in Nicosia. Founded in 1986 by a small group of 21 people impacted by cancer, the organization has evolved from an advocacy group into a comprehensive provider of psychosocial support, home-based palliative care, physiotherapy, and patient transportation services.

Health Minister Neofytos Charalambidis, speaking on behalf of President Nikos Christodoulides, emphasized the state's responsibility to develop a holistic cancer policy covering prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and systematic research. Deputy Social Welfare Minister Tina Pavlou also highlighted the association's vital role in supporting not only patients but also their families and caregivers, who often face significant anxiety and uncertainty during the treatment process. The event featured the launch of a commemorative album titled '40 Years… Continuing Together in Life', which chronicles the history and growth of the association. The anniversary served as a platform to recognize the collective efforts of volunteers and supporters who have sustained Pasykaf’s mission over four decades of service to the Cypriot community.
