Religious calendar observations for September 24 and 25

Saint Euphrosyne, an Alexandrian noblewoman who lived around 410 AD during the era of Theodosius the Younger, is celebrated on September 25. Orphaned at twelve and faced with an arranged marriage at eighteen, she chose to distribute her wealth to the poor. She lived for 38 years in a male monastery under the name Smaragdus, concealing her identity to dedicate her life to spiritual struggle and service. These historical figures remain central to the church's liturgical remembrance for these two dates.
