40-year-old man arrested for repeated burglary of a Limassol jewelry store

A 40-year-old man was arrested in Limassol late on Thursday, September 24, after police received a report of a break-in at a jewelry store on Ellados Street. Officers from the Crime Prevention Unit discovered the suspect hiding in the building's machinery room shortly before 11:30 p.m. Despite attempting to resist arrest, the man was taken into custody. During a search, police found burglary tools and a collection of gold jewelry in his possession.

Investigations revealed that the suspect had targeted the same store previously, between September 17 and 18, an incident which was reported to authorities at the time. The store owner, a 65-year-old man, confirmed that the jewelry found on the suspect was stolen during the earlier burglary. Reports indicate that the jewelry shop has been closed for the past six years.

Following his arrest, the suspect appeared before the Limassol District Court on September 25. The court approved a request for his seven-day detention to facilitate ongoing police investigations. Authorities are continuing to probe the circumstances surrounding both break-ins.
