Arrests in Limassol following jewelry store burglary and illegal security violations

On the night of September 24, a 40-year-old man was arrested in Limassol after being discovered hiding in the engine room of a jewelry store on Ellados Street. Police arrived at the scene shortly before 11:30 p.m. following reports of a break-in and apprehended the suspect, who resisted arrest. Authorities found burglary tools and gold jewelry in his possession; the store owner later identified some items as having been stolen during an earlier burglary at the same shop between September 17 and 18. The Limassol District Court has ordered the suspect to be detained for eight days to facilitate the ongoing investigation.

In a separate incident on September 27, police in Limassol arrested four individuals—three women aged 30, 31, and 62, and a 75-year-old man—for violations related to private security employment. The 62-year-old, who held a security license, was arrested for violating its terms, while the others were found to be working as guards without the required professional licenses. All four individuals were charged in writing and released pending a court appearance.
