Police arrest 40-year-old burglar at a jewelry store in Limassol

Police in Limassol arrested a 40-year-old Greek Cypriot man for burglary late on September 24, 2026. Authorities responded to a report received shortly before 11:30 p.m. regarding a break-in at a local jewelry store, which has been closed for the past six years. Members of the Limassol Prevention of Crime Squad (OPE) arrived at the scene and apprehended the suspect while he was still inside the premises.

Upon searching the individual, police discovered burglary tools and various jewelry items, for which the suspect could not provide a satisfactory explanation. The man resisted arrest during the operation but was eventually detained. Subsequent investigations revealed that some of the stolen property found in his possession was linked to a previous burglary at the same establishment, which occurred between September 17 and 18.

The suspect is a known offender with a history of similar criminal activities. Law enforcement officials are currently processing the evidence, and while the exact value of the stolen items has not yet been estimated, the investigation continues as the man remains in police custody.
