Police arrest 40-year-old man for burglary at a Limassol jewelry shop

On Thursday night, September 24, 2026, a 40-year-old man was arrested for burglary after police discovered him inside a closed jewelry shop in Limassol. Authorities received a tip shortly before 11:30 p.m. reporting that an intruder was inside the building. Members of the Limassol Crime Prevention Unit arrived at the scene and apprehended the suspect, who resisted arrest before being taken into custody.

Upon searching the suspect, officers found a bag containing burglary tools and various gold items. Further investigation revealed that the recovered jewelry had been stolen from the same premises during a previous break-in that occurred between September 17 and 18, 2026. According to reports, the shop has remained closed for the past six years. While the suspect has prior brushes with the law, the total value of the stolen goods has not yet been estimated.

The Limassol Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is currently continuing the investigation into the incident. The suspect remains in police custody as authorities process the evidence related to both the current and the previous break-in.
