Cypriot Foreign Minister holds diplomatic meetings in New York

Cypriot Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos held a series of diplomatic meetings in New York on Thursday to discuss regional stability and bilateral relations. During his visit, he met with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, to discuss regional developments, specifically emphasizing the importance of freedom of navigation and adherence to international law. Kombos reiterated the need for effective diplomacy and substantive dialogue to achieve lasting de-escalation in the Middle East.

In addition to the meeting with the Iranian minister, Kombos held discussions with the Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia, Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud. The talks focused on the broader regional security situation, with the Cypriot official expressing solidarity with the government and people of Saudi Arabia. Furthermore, Kombos met with the Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan, Zheenbek Kulubaev, to follow up on his visit to Bishkek last July. The two sides reviewed bilateral cooperation, the implementation of next steps in their relationship, and broader prospects regarding relations between the European Union and Central Asia.

The discussions reflect Cyprus's ongoing efforts to engage with regional partners and maintain active participation in multilateral frameworks to address geopolitical concerns and strengthen international cooperation.
