Airfare and package holiday price trends in Cyprus and the EU for August 2026

In August 2026, airfare prices in Cyprus rose by 5% compared to the same month in 2025, while the cost of organized holidays increased by 3.7%. Data released by Eurostat highlights that these figures deviate from the broader European Union average, where passenger air transport prices saw a marginal decline of 0.4%, and organized holiday prices rose by 3.2%, aligning with the EU's general inflation rate.

Across the EU, significant disparities were observed among member states. Greece and Ireland recorded the highest annual airfare hikes at 16.3% and 14.4% respectively. Conversely, ten countries reported decreases, led by a substantial 61.2% drop in Slovakia, with others ranging from 15.8% in Spain to 0.9% in Lithuania. Regarding organized holidays, Belgium experienced the sharpest annual increase at 16.2%, followed by Portugal (14.3%), Sweden (12.8%), Lithuania (12.3%), and Romania (11.9%). While most nations saw price growth, four member states recorded decreases, with Estonia reporting the largest decline at 21.1%.
