Omonia acquires Giorgos Viktoros from Nea Salamina

Omonia Nicosia has officially completed the signing of 21-year-old central defender Giorgos Viktoros from Nea Salamina. The transfer was formalized on September 26, 2026, as a loan deal lasting until the end of the 2026/2027 season, with Omonia holding an option to purchase his rights permanently at the conclusion of the term. The player will wear the number 44 jersey for his new club.

The move was initiated to bolster Omonia’s defensive line following the departure of Nikolas Panagiotou to Utrecht. After failing to secure a more experienced replacement, the club targeted the young Cypriot defender, who had already logged four appearances this season. Viktoros, who stands 1.90 meters tall, joined Nea Salamina in 2019 after graduating from Anorthosis' academy and has recorded 49 appearances for the Famagusta-based team.

Both clubs have expressed satisfaction with the agreement, which provides significant financial benefits to Nea Salamina, including a resale percentage clause. Viktoros, a member of the Cyprus U21 national team, described the move as a major career opportunity, stating he aims to win his first championship title with Omonia. He is now expected to begin training under coach Henning Berg.
