Omonia secures loan signing of Nea Salamis defender Georgios Viktoros

Omonia Nicosia has officially completed the signing of 21-year-old central defender Georgios Viktoros from Nea Salamis. The move, finalized on September 26, 2026, is structured as a season-long loan agreement that includes an option for Omonia to purchase the player permanently at the end of the 2026/27 campaign. The 1.90-meter tall defender will wear the number 44 jersey for his new club.

The decision to pursue Viktoros was made to strengthen Omonia's defensive line following the sale of Nikolas Panagiotou to Utrecht. Despite initial efforts to recruit a more experienced center-back, the club ultimately focused on the young talent, who has made 49 appearances for Nea Salamis since 2019 and serves as a key player for the Cyprus U21 national team. The transfer was completed before the deadline for internal domestic moves, which remains open until September 30.

Viktoros, who expressed high enthusiasm regarding the opportunity to play for Omonia, is expected to immediately integrate into the squad under head coach Henning Berg. The deal is considered financially beneficial for Nea Salamis while providing Omonia with much-needed depth in their defense for the ongoing season.
