Cypriot Foreign Minister holds diplomatic meetings at 81st UN General Assembly

Cypriot Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos conducted a series of diplomatic engagements on the sidelines of the 81st UN General Assembly in New York. On Friday, he hosted a trilateral meeting with his counterparts from Greece, George Gerapetritis, and Egypt, Badr Abdelatty, to discuss preparations for the upcoming 11th Trilateral Summit scheduled to be held in Cyprus. Additionally, Kombos held a separate trilateral meeting with the foreign ministers of Greece and Jordan and participated in a high-level summit for Europe's small states.

Throughout his visit, the Minister reported a total of 51 diplomatic contacts aimed at expanding the Republic of Cyprus' international footprint. During his bilateral meetings, he focused on strengthening cooperation with various nations, including India, Indonesia, and Iceland. Notably, Cyprus and Indonesia signed an agreement to waive visa requirements for holders of diplomatic and service passports to facilitate official exchanges. Kombos emphasized that these efforts to develop institutional frameworks and strategic partnerships are essential for strengthening the state's status and ensuring the country acts as an equal member of the international community amidst regional challenges.
