Re-visions contemporary photography residency held in Cyprus

From September 19 to September 27, 2026, Cyprus is hosting the international contemporary photography residency program titled RE-VISIONS. Organized by Actus Anima and the French Institute of Cyprus, the initiative is based in the village of Malounta in the Nicosia district. The program draws inspiration from the Bicentenary of Photography, a global celebration marking 200 years since Nicéphore Niépce created the first photographic image.

The residency project features five artists: Samar Baiomy (Egypt), Constantinos-Sofoklis Constantinou (Cyprus), Romane Iskaria and Gaëtan Soerensen (France), and Ioanna Spentzou (Greece). Curated by Eos Paschou, an art historian and assistant professor at the University of West Attica, the project examines Cyprus as a central subject of artistic research. It focuses on the intersections of personal and collective memory, exploring how the island's landscape and identity are perceived through the lens of diverse artistic perspectives.

This residency is designed to engage with the concept of celebrating gaze and bridging the gap between reality and its representation. The project concludes on September 27, 2026, contributing to the broader international observance of photography's historical milestone.
