Police conduct traffic enforcement operations in Paphos

Paphos police recently concluded two separate enforcement operations targeting traffic violations. On September 27, officers from the Traffic and Cycling departments conducted a campaign focused on personal mobility devices, resulting in 34 citations. Violations included unauthorized use, failure to wear helmets, and allowing minors to operate scooters.

Following this, on September 29, a coordinated operation in the Polis Chrysochous area targeted underage driving. Police intercepted four teenagers—three aged 16 and one aged 17—operating vehicles without licenses or insurance. Two of these vehicles had modified bodywork and lacked registration plates. All four vehicles, which belonged to the teenagers' relatives, were seized for investigation into how the minors obtained them. During the same operation, a 36-year-old woman was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs with a suspended license; she also had outstanding arrest warrants from Larnaca and Famagusta courts. Authorities emphasized that underage driving remains a persistent issue in the region, leading to continued surveillance and potential legal action against owners who permit unlicensed access to their vehicles.
