New diving guide launched to promote Protaras underwater tourism

On September 21, the Municipality of Paralimni-Deryneia officially presented a new comprehensive diving guide for Protaras, aiming to highlight the region's unique underwater wealth. The guide features 12 distinct diving sites spanning from Cape Greco to Kapparis, providing essential data including depth, location, difficulty levels, and specific features such as caves, reefs, shipwrecks, underwater meadows, and sculptures. Each entry includes QR codes to assist divers in locating the spots, which are known for crystal-clear waters with visibility exceeding 30 meters.

During the presentation, Christoforos Senekis, representing the Deputy Ministry of Tourism, emphasized the importance of promoting Protaras as a premier diving destination to attract specialized tourism, which currently draws approximately 50,000 visitors annually. The initiative is part of a broader strategy by the municipality to enrich its tourism product and showcase the local 'Riviera.' Additionally, the municipality has collaborated with underwater photographer Sakis Lazarides to release a supplementary publication titled 'The Marine Jewels of Protaras,' focusing on the area's marine flora and fauna to further enhance visitor engagement.
