Man bitten by wolf during mountain hike in Kryoneri

On the evening of September 25, 2026, Thanasis Linardos reported being attacked by a wolf while hiking near the Kryoneri cemetery at approximately 19:50. The victim stated that the animal pursued him for about eight minutes, forcing him to seek cover behind a large tree to defend himself. Despite his efforts, the animal managed to bite him before the encounter ended.

A significant detail reported by Linardos is that the animal appeared to be wearing a tracking collar equipped with a blinking red light, suggesting it may be a specimen previously tagged by researchers.
