Greek Foreign Minister reviews diplomatic meetings at the 81st UN General Assembly

Greek Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis concluded a series of diplomatic meetings on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York. During his review, he emphasized the strategic importance of trilateral cooperation schemes between Greece, Cyprus, and Jordan, as well as Greece, Cyprus, and Egypt. These partnerships are intended to strengthen the regional influence of Greece and Cyprus amidst ongoing instability and armed conflicts in the Middle East.

Furthermore, Gerapetritis highlighted a collaborative initiative with India focused on the application of artificial intelligence in the maritime sector and the inaugural session of the Friends of Maritime Security and Safety group. These efforts underscore Greece's commitment to enhancing regional stability and global maritime safety standards.

Greece is set to assume the presidency of the UN Security Council in October for the second time during its current two-year term. The upcoming agenda will focus on addressing major international crises, managing ongoing armed conflicts, and overseeing the selection process for the next United Nations Secretary-General, which is considered a critical period for the future of the organization.
