Beach cleanup campaigns conducted across Paphos and Akamas regions

Municipal authorities in Paphos and Akamas have organized a series of beach cleanup events to promote environmental sustainability and protect the coastal regions. In Paphos, the local municipality collaborated with the Paphos Regional Board of Tourism (ETAP), the Cyprus Sustainable Tourism Initiative (CSTI), and the Amavi hotel to clean the Sodap beach area. Euclides Ambrosiadis, president of the Paphos Municipal Beach Committee, emphasized that such collective actions are essential for maintaining the city's natural heritage and its tourism reputation.

A separate cleanup event took place at Coral Bay to mark World Tourism Day. This initiative was part of the 'Keep our Sand and Sea Plastic Free, Destination Zero Waste in Cyprus' program, supported by the TUI Care Foundation and CSTI. The Akamas Municipality led the effort, with participation from local officials, school board members, students from the Pegeia Primary School, volunteers, and beachgoers. The participants successfully cleared plastic and other waste from the coastline. These events highlight a growing emphasis on local environmental responsibility, with organizers stressing that the preservation of coastal ecosystems requires continued cooperation between the government, private businesses, and the public.
