Dimitris Giannakopoulos reacts to Panathinaikos loss in Super Cup semifinal

Following Panathinaikos' defeat by PAOK in the Stoiximan Super Cup semifinal, club owner Dimitris Giannakopoulos posted a reaction via Instagram. Giannakopoulos congratulated PAOK on their victory, specifically drawing a historical parallel to Peja Stojaković’s decisive shot against Olympiacos in 1998, which sent a Thessaloniki-based team to the Greek league finals. He noted that the intensity of such moments is what basketball fans desire to see repeated.

Regarding his own team, Giannakopoulos attributed the loss to significant player absences, including Kendrick Nunn, Nigel Hayes-Davis, and Kostas Sloukas, as well as the lack of match readiness for Nikos Rogkavopoulos. Looking ahead to the final between PAOK and Olympiacos, he expressed well-wishes to the organizers, while cryptically stating, "God and your soul tomorrow.

Beyond the match, the owner addressed his ongoing personal legal troubles, noting he is currently barred from attending domestic games in Greece. He expressed uncertainty regarding the exact duration of his ban, citing it could extend until the early 2030s. Consequently, he remains unable to personally attend the upcoming final or other Greek sporting events.
