Deadly mass shootings reported in South Africa

At least 17 people were killed and 15 others injured during a mass shooting at a bar in the Wendela settlement, southwest of Johannesburg, on Saturday evening. Police report that eight unidentified gunmen armed with AK-47 assault rifles and pistols stormed the premises around 21:30 local time. The attackers reportedly searched some customers and stole their mobile phones before fleeing the scene in two vehicles. All fatalities were confirmed at the scene, while the injured have been transported to local hospitals for medical treatment.

In a separate incident during the same weekend, another shooting occurred in the early hours of Sunday in Luandle, near Cape Town. Authorities confirmed that gunmen entered an entertainment venue at 01:46 and opened fire, resulting in 10 deaths and 11 injuries.

South African police have launched a massive manhunt to locate the suspects involved in both incidents. While investigations are currently underway to determine the motives behind these coordinated attacks, authorities state that the specific reasons for the violence remain unknown at this stage.
