This initiative aims to reduce European dependence on Russian gas by importing American LNG through Greece for redirection to Ukraine.

The report highlights that Guilfoyle’s methods have caused concern among local government officials. Specifically, she is accused of exerting pressure to secure projects for Aktor, a Greek construction company new to the natural gas sector, which is currently collaborating with a Greek state-owned energy entity. The investigation further notes a reported "heated incident" between the Ambassador and a Greek government minister. Additionally, the coverage mentions the involvement of a 39-year-old Greek businessman, Christos, in these regional energy discussions.

While the objective of the project aligns with broader US geopolitical strategy regarding European energy security, the ambassador’s alleged lobbying for specific commercial interests has become a point of contention within the diplomatic and business community in the region.
