Cyprus weather forecast predicts unstable conditions and rainfall

Cyprus is currently experiencing a period of atmospheric instability due to a low-pressure system, with the Meteorological Service forecasting isolated rains and thunderstorms. Temperatures are expected to reach approximately 30C inland and on the southern and eastern coasts, while wind speeds are anticipated to strengthen, reaching 4 to 5 Beaufort in coastal areas. Recent data indicate that September has been particularly wet, with rainfall reaching 180 percent of the monthly average by September 28. Notably, Larnaca Airport and Frenaros have recorded significantly higher levels of precipitation, exceeding 1,871 and 2,167 percent of their respective monthly norms.

Looking ahead, meteorological experts anticipate that the weather will become increasingly unsettled starting Wednesday. Authorities expect widespread rain and isolated thunderstorms, particularly during the afternoon hours, with potential for hail. Conditions are forecast to intensify toward the end of the work week, specifically on Friday and Saturday. As a result of this incoming cold air mass, temperatures are expected to drop gradually, eventually falling below seasonal averages by the weekend.
