Yellow weather warning issued for Cyprus as storms approach

The alert specifically covers inland areas, the mountains, and northern regions, where isolated strong thunderstorms are expected. Authorities warn that these storms may bring hail and intense rainfall, with precipitation locally exceeding 35 millimeters per hour in some areas. Kitas Weather reports that rainfall amounts in mountainous and semi-mountainous regions could potentially reach or exceed 45 millimeters within an hour or 55 millimeters within three hours.

The unstable weather pattern is expected to persist through the end of the week, with temperatures projected to fall below seasonal averages by Friday. While Wednesday will feature the most significant warning, intermittent cloud cover, local rain, and isolated storms are forecast to continue across the island through Saturday. Residents are advised to monitor official weather bulletins as conditions could intensify, particularly on Friday, when the weather may become prolonged and more severe. Winds are expected to strengthen during storm activity, potentially reaching 5 to 6 Beaufort in some locations.
