President Christodoulides grants financial aid to Agios Theodoros Karpasias Association

President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides has pledged a donation of 10,000 euros to the Association of Displaced Persons of Agios Theodoros Karpasias. The announcement was made by the Deputy Minister of Migration and International Protection, Nikolas Ioannidis, during a memorial event held this past Sunday in Kellia, Larnaca.

The funds are intended to support the completion of ongoing projects, specifically the construction of a church and a monument in Xylotymbou. According to the government, this site is envisioned as a central place of meeting, memory, and unity for the displaced community. During the event, Deputy Minister Ioannidis addressed the fifty-second anniversary of the 1974 Turkish invasion, emphasizing that the passage of time has not diminished the displaced population's desire for return or their historical connection to the land.

Ioannidis highlighted that the region's Greek heritage is confirmed by archaeological findings throughout the Karpasias peninsula. The donation represents an official government effort to provide practical support to the association's activities and to preserve the cultural identity of those displaced from their ancestral homes.
