Elderly man safely located in Machairas National Forest Park

On the afternoon of September 27, 2026, an elderly man became disoriented while visiting the Machairas National Forest Park. A relative residing in Larnaca alerted the Lythrodontas Forest Station, initiating an immediate search and rescue operation.

Upon receiving the report, a forestry department official established direct telephone contact with the man. By analyzing the descriptions of his surroundings provided during the call, the official was able to guide a forestry patrol team toward his specific location. The patrol successfully located the man in a short time. He was found in good health and was subsequently reunited with his family.
