Police operation against noise pollution in Paphos

On the night between September 25 and 26, 2026, the police conducted a coordinated operation in Paphos to combat noise pollution and the operation of establishments without necessary permits. During the sweep, authorities inspected a total of 11 premises, resulting in five formal reports being filed against owners for broadcasting sound without the required authorization from the competent authorities.

Specific attention was given to two establishments identified as repeat offenders. In these cases, police executed court-issued search warrants to seize audiovisual equipment. From the first location, officials confiscated four speakers, one media player, and one audio mixer. From the second, they seized four speakers, one sound amplifier, and an additional audio mixer. In total, the operation resulted in the removal of eight speakers, one amplifier, two audio mixers, and one media player.

This enforcement action is part of an ongoing initiative by local authorities to regulate nightlife noise and ensure compliance with operating licenses. The crackdown reflects increasing pressure on businesses in the area to adhere to municipal noise standards and licensing regulations, with the seized equipment serving as a consequence of continued non-compliance.
