Cyprus youth national volleyball teams conclude European qualification campaigns

In late September 2026, the Cyprus national youth volleyball teams concluded their appearances in the U20 European Championship qualification tournaments. The U20 men's team competed in Steinbrunn, Austria, where they finished just short of advancing to the next phase after a narrow 2-3 loss to Luxembourg in a decisive match for fifth place. The team, coached by Loizos Loizou, demonstrated resilience despite having a younger roster than their opponents, with most players eligible for future U20 competitions.

Meanwhile, the U20 women's team completed their historic first appearance in the European Championship qualifiers in Maribor, Slovenia. Although they finished the tournament without a win—concluding with a 0-3 defeat against Austria in a match for seventh place—the team gained significant experience against established opponents. This participation is part of a long-term strategic plan by the Cyprus Volleyball Federation to develop future talent.
