Fire breaks out at car rental office in Larnaca

A fire broke out at a car rental office located near the port in Larnaca during the early hours of Monday, September 28, 2026. Emergency services were alerted to the blaze at approximately 2:18 a.m. Responding units from the police and Fire Service successfully brought the fire under control by 3:11 a.m. after deploying three fire engines to the scene. Firefighters conducted a thorough search of the building, which includes residential apartments on the upper floors, but confirmed that no one was trapped inside.

The incident resulted in the destruction of an electric bicycle and various personal belongings belonging to the 52-year-old owner of the business. Additionally, three vehicles parked outside the premises sustained fire damage, though the total financial cost remains under assessment. While initial investigations suggested the fire originated inside the office, police spokesman Spyros Chrysostomou stated that criminal activity has been ruled out at a preliminary stage.
