Greek actress and dancer Eleni Prokopiou passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2026, at the age of 87. Her death was confirmed by actress Melpo Kosti and later reported by journalist Nikos Nikolizas, who paid tribute to her artistic career and her mentor, Dimitris Ivanov.

Prokopiou was a prominent figure during the golden age of Greek cinema. Born in 1939, she began her training at age six at the Loukia Sakellariou-Kotsopoulou Dance School at the Athens Conservatory alongside Martha Karagianni. She eventually formed a celebrated dance duo with Vangelis Seilinos in the late 1950s. Her film career spanned from 1960 to 1972, during which she appeared in 23 motion pictures, many of them in leading roles, before eventually retiring from the artistic spotlight.
